Theological Education and Its Significance

Theology is the study of the principles and nature of the divine power. It is taught to interested people in different schools of divinity located across the globe. Theology education has been carried out from thousands of years back with many revered people studying the principles and deity as well as different aspects of the divine. Many churches consider Theological Education as the foundation of good and sustainable development of mankind. During the 18th Century a good theology school was established for training clergymen and to promote other academics for effective Missionary work in West African region. This institution become much popular and sought after for its excellence and good education. Thereafter, many institutions sprang up across the world to spread the theology education among disciples.

Theology has to evaluate and interact with people and their situations to be relevant and genuine to its students. Earlier there are many Theological Schools which have trained both men and women and also provided Messianic Bible studies for multifaceted Ministry aspect of Lord Jesus. These colleges with time have been evaluating and upgrading themselves in a bid to relevant among its students and the community as a whole. There are however, three main aspects covered by Theology:

• Theology that advocates for social and political reform
• Theology that transforms the lives of people
• Theology that solves ecclesiastical problems.

Theology that advocates for social and political reform: The statement itself states that Theology has that power of responsibility bestowed by God Himself to speak for or make plead on behalf of the common people who look for efficient political and social change in the community. The present theologians shouldn’t refrain from the mentioned roles as it is their prime responsibility to upgrade the living of the community. If they do refrain, they would not succeed in fulfilling the objective of theology education they have acquired.

Theology that transforms the lives of people: The fundamental nature of theology is the spiritual transformation. There are different courses of theology offered by the divinity schools. The ones who go through the four-year course and Messianic Bible studies in a theological institution should follow the theology principles to the core. When this happens, the person would feel a radical transformation in him/her even if the person isn’t 100% perfect as an individual. Like for instance, Lord Jesus spent much time with few of his disciples even though a certain disciple wasn’t purely faithful. But the rest of the followers and disciples who understood and followed His theology left a remarkable impact on the lives of people. The success of a good theological program is evaluated judged by its impact on the student and the subsequent impact the student leaves on the people he/meets along the way.

Theology that solves ecclesiastical problem: The theology is crucial in a theology school and states its importance to solving ecclesiastical issues. There are many cases and situations in the past where this significant power of theology is observed. One can always observe numerous problems of people when they arrive at a church. There are problems in everyone’s life, no doubt. But how the theological education solves these problems of the people is more important.
